Dan, why is is a problem which one it is?

As long as the airport code for Kai Tak is VHHX in FlyNET, all will go well. One can make allowances for the realities of Flight Sim. :)

Hi Guys

I think you'll find you could call it what you like. FlyNET knows where you are by long/lat which is cross referenced to the airport database. So if you book a flight from A to B, when you land at B your position is cross referenced to the database position for B to make sure you are within the 'boundaries' of the airport. If your position does not correspond for the know positon of B then it will register that you have landed at the wrong airport. So, you can't book a flight to VHHH and land at VHHX pretending it's VHHH because the database will know exactly where you are.

With reference to scenery the options are there by pilot's choice as long as the scenery used doesn't shift the location of the airport away from the known position in the database.

Personally I would like flights to both, I agree that the chance of landing at the wrong airport is 'Remote, but possible', but I don't think that having routes to just one of the airports is going to reduce the chance of that.

Philosophically are we flying classic aircraft in today's world or are we flying back when these aircraft were not yet classics. Historically VHHX was used by the VC10 but if you see yourself flying today your going to want to fly into VHHH.

If we insist on using only one I dont have a strong opinion on either, as long as we come to a concusion and can start flying.

edit: 500th post!

edit again: Plus it sort of nags at me that we are going to require ppl to install third party scenery to fly this route.

Hi Guys,

The more I think about this the more I think the option should be yours. Some may not want to add extra scenery to enable operation into VHHX whilst others will be quite happy to and even prefer it. To a certain extent It's like saying there are three London Airports LL/KK/SS or even four with GW but we'll only operate into one in case you land at the wrong airport. I'll get the info together to add Kai Tak to the FlyNET database and I'll schedule through both. Just remember which one you're going to and you can't change your mind en-route lol.

Joe, I notice the scheduled times for those extra flights you've posted are local times. Can you check the flight times and reschedule in GMT for me please. I'll grab them off the forum when you've updated them.

p.s. Oh, and the first one to land at the wrong airport gets a bucket and sponge and has to clean all the aircraft in the fleet.

Will do, I thought we were using local times in the DB and the values I gave were as they appeared in the time table.

Great! Then I will not waist any more of the few braincells left on converting the one to the other...

Chris: The reason there seemed to be a problem was as John stated that there could be a risk that you ended up in the wrong airport. Personally I prefer to have both options available.
