The Avro

Thanks to Brian (flyTexas) for the Laconia conversion

were they trying to confuse the passengers, Brian?
"Merian Frit au Citron"; "Tarte Namuraise"........"French Ice Cream"

Judging by the way Cunard wrote the date (Tuesday, September 8th, 1914) I'd assume this menu was meant to be read by American passengers. Maybe a west-bound Atlantic crossing?
Anything French sounding would appeal to many Americans at that time.
Me included...if I was around back then

Yes Brian, but what I was getting at, was the number of descriptions in French language, followed by "French Ice Cream" written in English.
It seemed incongruously amusing. Simple things please simple minds!

Ox-Tongue - Succotash?
Does it really mean it sucks your moustache?
Regards
Nigel.

Ewww.
Judging by the menu I would've had the Sirloin & Ribs of Beef.
