VIRTAVIA Avon Lincoln On Sale For 50 Percent Off!!

Post by Aharon »

Shalom and greetings all my pals,

Some retail aviation websites are offering VIRTAVIA Avon Lincoln bomber on sale for 50 percent off!!! Knowing VIRTAVIA's superior quality from extremely positive experience buying and flying their C-17 Cargomaster, I might be interested on Lincoln.

My question for all of you is that can I pass Lincoln bomber off as Lancaster bomber or will anybody be able to tell difference in easy manner? Yes all of you are welcome to laugh at my question as lame or stupid :)

Regards,

Aharon

Well it wasn't so long ago that a Halifax was mistaken for a Liberator in here, so you might get away with it. But only with people who've never seen a Lancaster or Lincoln before.

EDIT : Virtavia do DCS editions ???

I'm pretty certain I've seen DCS editions too. They started appearing with the Steam releases. I'll go and have another look just to make sure ;)

EDIT: No.. my mistake. The new releases are Steam and Steam edition 'DLC'. I really don't know what DLC is and I'd only half-read it before presuming it was DCS :wall: Sorry Paul :$

DLC = Down-loadable Content. Add-ons and expansions in other words. ;)

Talking of DCS, I've just bought the MIg-15bis and rather nice it is too.

Ah.. I see.. I think

If I took the time to learn what Steam was, it'd make better sense :poke: I know what a Mig15 is though

I think Steam is excellent, though some people don't because you have to be registered and online to play the games you own, and so it seems a bit like Big Brother.

Personally, I think its one of the best things to happen to gaming on PCs. Steam always keeps my games up to date, lets me know about any new 'DLC' thats available, and keeps a record of what I've bought so that I don't accidentally buy something twice. The other day I decided to get the 'Caesar's Campaign in Gaul' expansion for Rome 2 Total War. I just confirmed the card details and it downloaded and installed there and then. Sounds obvious, but compared to FSX/P3D add-ons over all, Steam is effortless.

And of course, the bottom line is that Steam guards against piracy, so the developers get their hard-earned money, and we continue to get great games. :)

Hi Paul :hello:

That's a bit clearer :worried: So.. what would be the difference between a Steam 'Main' edition purchase and a Steam DLC purchase? I now know that DLC is downloadable content so you would download that software but what would you do with the 'Main' edition? Virtavia stuff comes in these 2 flavours.. plus the rest of course? :dunno:

Hmmm...no idea, unless its Virtavia selling via the normal outlets outside Steam ( Flightsim Store, SimMarket etc ) and via Steam too. I know that with some things, if you buy them outside Steam, you don't register them with Steam..you register them in the usual way. With Dovetail's FSX, even though its purchased through Steam, you can install add-ons that are not purchased through Steam- Orbx, PMDG, Captain Sim, Virtavia etc. If Virtavia is also selling via Steam, maybe that's the difference. And if you can follow all that, I take my hat off to you.

All the add-ons I have for my Steam-purchased games - Total War series, ARMA 2 and 3, etc - have also come via Steam. So I've never noticed that there are differing versions.
