Hi Mate,

sorry I haven't been about much. Really impressed with these (Southampton / Pompey / Plymouth)

Did you get any of them going as AI or are they all statics?

Hello Mate :hello:

They all work as AI as you can see but they need stuff converting to KML format and I can't do that. I don't think I ever got that tug going that you were working on with me :$ So.. they're all statics and I did that the log way round. I can't get on with SAMM2. No matter what I do I get errors saying it can't do this or it can't find that so I pulled the models into MCX, made them mdls in FSX format then added them to a library. I know SAMM2 should be dog easy but I never know what it's done or what I'm gonna end up with 8) I guess the bottom line is, I don't know how it works

I didn't see a wake effect off any of the IoW vessels but otherwise, they're ok :)

EDIT: Btw Ben.. you couldn't have the IoW ferry operating on a correct track anyway mate as there's a ferry docked on the tile in GenX. It could always be made to go somewhere else of course but it can't dock where it should. I've pulled the Ryde pier out of WoW and added it to FSX. It currently has a static berthed on it but this can be moved. Not sure about the hovercraft. I've one on the pad at Southsea and 2 on the pad at Ryde (to match the GenX tile) but I know AI ships in FSX don't like crawling up land. Rick's SRN4 never did anything other than doss about off Ramsgate :( Pity it can't be made as an aircraft traffic file to fly at zero feet or a foot!

That's an interesting thought actually mate. In theory (and I do mean in theory) that might work *-)

The only way to make a hovercraft run on water and land is to use it as AI. Do you use FS9 or FSX format trafic files?

Hi George,

Yep, AI is what I was thinking of knocking one up for (in FSX) but it would need to be an AI air file rather than an AI shipping file. So long as the dynamics of the SRN4 are right, she should simply glide over the sand / slipway. Actually, thinking about it, I wonder if you could do ships with AI air traffic? *-)

until tomorrow :)

George..

The traffic files I used were converted to FSX using AIFP but they weren't bonafide FSX tracks using kml format. That shot was a consequence of FS9 AF2's (to give them somewhere to go from and to) and converted FS9 traffic files.

Ok Dave.

The problem with the tracks showing is due to the airport being defined at 1.9 metres and you do not have the modified terrain.cfg by Richard Ludowise and Luis Feliz-Tirado.

I don't have an SRN4 but I have changed HTRY and HTSS to FSX format at sea level and recompiled the traffic file in FSX format and it sort of works.

I am going out now but will let you have the files later.

Hi George :)

Okey doh ;) I'd guessed the AF2's were to blame.. well, more to blame than anything else. I didn't know of a terrain mod :-O

Those hovercraft are fine. The one in my shot is an AP1-88 which comes with the IoW Demo scenery. When I did the crossing years ago, it was on an SRN6. I think Hama did one but I'm not fussed. As far as I'm aware, the SRN4 was never used on that crossing.. it's purely passenger. I doubt very much the slipway at Southsea would accommodate one anyway as they're huge. When the smaller ones launch.. the skirt inflates and they slew sideways. By the time they hit the water, they're going in the right direction.. no messing :)

Ok Dave. I'll try the HTSS files before uploading them.

George..

If you don't have that hovercraft, I've uploaded it HERE

The ht_hovercraft.mdl file loafing in there is my static conversion and can be dispensed with :)
