Not far from you Dave,
I went and had a look at it a year or two ago, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that it was ever more than a wooden mock-up.
The lady on duty was very keen to show me all that was left ( a few scraps of paper and a line drawing ) of what must have been a major project at the time.
I know a wooden wing was flown on a Miles Falcon.

Yup.. that's right. It's pretty much on my doorstep but suffers from odd opening hours. I was a 'Crew Member' there for a couple of years.. perhaps 3 but as I was spending every Wed at Brooklands and couldn't split myself in two, I ended up letting my membership lapse. I remember it as being a bit like a junk yard inside.. very little room to move and exibits shoehorned so close together, you couldn't see them. Still.. they do what they can with what they've got

The M.52 (cough) did get to be 90% complete before cancellation.

Although it did fly, in model form. A 30% scale RC model powered by an Armstrong Siddeley Beta rocket engine, although it blew up on it's first launch just days before Yeager went supersonic a later launch again a few days after Yeager went well and the model achieved mach 1.38 in level flight.

Instead of diving into the sea as planned, the model failed to respond to radio commands and was last observed (on radar) heading out into the Atlantic. Some reports suggested is was aimed at the Bell Aircraft Company HQ

I have yet to find evidence, other than anecdotal, that the M52( sorry not “M53”) was ever more than a mock-up.
I know the Model did go supersonic some years after cancellation of the Miles contract.
Had the aircraft reached 90% finished where are the pictures, or indeed any evidence, of its existence?
