Me neither Garry.. except perhaps a degradation in performance. I was always under the impression that you do not let FS9 control AA as this will almost certainly produce jaggies.. which it joyfully does for me if I let it control AA. TM is the only person I've ever known to have success 'against the odds' Perhaps this has changed as the card numbers have gone up *-) Couldn't say as I'm still in the dark ages 8)

Could be me Dave :$ But like you say it works for me, I hate AA in the card only as this seems to blur things up. Anyway Ben as long as your running well thats the main thing
Ben are you using a 8800GTX??
I am still torn between that and a GTX260, the thing is I can get the 8800GTX for half the price of a 260...wonder if its worth paying double for *-)

I'll be honest Tony, I've all the sliders over far right on this GTX and it looks great. Took off from Heathrow with a shit load of AI, using The old Heathrow Pro from UK2000. All the the British airways stuff was DM / RP's VC10 / Tridents / Vanguards etc and not a stutter in site. I think any card thats half way modern should be able to eat FS9 for Breakfast with room to spare.

My card is an Palait 8800GTX. Apparently these were NVidia referance cards (story goes that with each new GPU they realease referance cards under an unknown brand name and use these as reference for other manufacturers.) It cost me a small fortune at the time (Jan'07) but theres nothing I currently use that needs more. I've got all the FS9 stuff from the GenX V2 media, all the UK2000 stuff on and UTE (or whatever its FS9 equivalant was called)

I think mate that what you get at the end of the day is how well balanced the system is as a whole. It's been said before that a mighty fast card, while going some way to achieving what you want to see is not the be all and end all. Ben has a good board, fast memory, a decent cpu and b1oody fast drives clagged onto the end of the 8800 and it's the combination of all these things that give him the blistering performance. ;) It can be an expensive and disappointing roulette game :D

Fair point Dave, but by Tonys recent standards my machine is relatively slow. The SCSI drives are out at the minute until my Windows 7 DVD's arrive.

Currently the system is...

Intel QX6700 at 2.66GHz
4GB Corsair XMS 800MHz RAM (it was fast when it was bought)
ASUS P5WDG2 WS Professional Motherboard
NVidia 8800GTX
1 x 160 GB Maxtor SATA 3.0 (bog standard drive out of an old IBM desktop PC)
1 x 300 GB Hitachi SATA 3.0 (£50 from Purple world - I was desperate! )

The point is FS9 doesn't need anything that fancy. It was released 6 years ago when 128MB on a Video Card was bleeding edge and 1GB of RAM was "fancy"

So unless your into PC gaming outwith FS9, I wouldn't bother with the newer card mate (but i know you will  )

You must be able to read my mind Ben :)
The wife has gone to Suffolk to meet long distance relatives from Aussie land, I kid her theY were sent there not went there :agree:
So I was left with £111 in my paypal account after selling my old motherboard cpu and the 2gb of Ram as a job lot! Scan were offering this beast at a decent price and I could use paypal so in the end it only cost a few quid out of the bank account so I can get that past her easy, plus the nearly new 8600GTS can go on eBay to get a few squid back!
I went for the 260 after reading various reviews and this is a bit quicker than most of the 260's and on offer!
I think this will more than do for FS9 and COD4 plus whatever I want to try..
money and fool soon parted.... I know

   Yes indeed.. and all things are relative. Remember at the beginning of WWII the Blenheim was as fast as our fastest fighter.. and then came the Me Bf109 :-O I've never been able to move around on the deck or close to it without stutters. I can just about manage being at FL183 in the Vanguard looking straight up into the clear blue yonder for my stutter-free ride

Tony.. a fool and his money?? You're in distinguished company here mate
