Can anyone tell please me the French equivalent of.................. Cut Here In Emergency

It is not a literal translation

It was written in French and English

It's probably decoupez ici, which I think is more correct French, literally the airliners.net phot is saying 'In case of emergency to cut here' whereas your photo says 'In case of emergency you cut here'.
In other words in your photo they've conjugated the verb to cut, whereas in the airliners.net photo they've left it as 'to cut'.
Thinking about it more, DelP's photo is of an Air France jet so they may have actually got the correct French put on their jets, whereas the aircraft in your shot could have British 'schoolboy' French.

Anyway, I think your photo says 'Encas d'urgence decouper ici', en cas becoming one word again due to the schoolboy French!

That's a great find by Derek but I have to agree that the word on the bottom line DOES end in EZ. With this in mind, I've tasked my daughter to have a go and this is what she's come up with..

DANS L'URGENCE L'OUVREZ ICI.. the direct translation of which is In Emergency Open Here.. which might be so if a Brit has done the translation rather than a French chappie The first two words are open to negotiation but I'm (we're) pretty certain that the bottom line is so ;-)

EDIT.. though my daughter is very impressed with Skips break down and probably wishes she'd said that instead

Dave's duaghter 's is good and better than anything I came up with, but it refers to opening and that is not one of the hatched windows :-(

Sometimes the area was as shown other times it was above the window central between the widow line and the flight deck,upper edge probably just beloe the FD floor and it is very much an area to hit with an axe and cut your way in.

In reality it is not something you would be able to read but the cut here in emergency is equaly hard but clear as I know what it says...I'm talking here about on the model.

So at least if I get it right then anyone who knows French and what it should say will be able to make it out........if you follow

Going through an auto translator gives a good one to one but produces something that is not even close to the gramatical interpretation of the instruction.

So I was completly lost on this one

Helen actually toiled on this for quite a while last night and left me (eventually) with about 7 different possibilities. Skip posted a second before I got back here and hit the submit key and when she read his version of events.. she read out aloud what it was and said DAMN! I was tempted to ask why she'd not come up with the same but given nearly an hour of her friday night was taken up helping her old man (this is rare believe me).. I let it go ;-)

If it's any consultation to your daughter, I was rubbish at French until I ended up working in Paris for three months after University. It took about two months before I could do anything more useful than order a beer!

The object here of course was to try and detimine what it said which may be different to what it should have said

This same BAF painted two Superfreighters up for CAB. They were G-ANwM,N and the BAF livery was overpainted in Silver City blue which CAB were still using and went into service as F-BPIM,N

On both aircraft the French flag was painted back to front on the starboard side.

Ah.. the French flag. How often has this caused confusion ;-)

Skip.. there can be no more noble a cause than to be able to order beer in a foreign tongue. I used to be quite good at it too but there's not much call for such a talent in Berkshire That said.. a bit of Czech or Polish wouldn't go amiss from time to time :roll:
