So if I bought FSX deluxe and downloaded SP2 this would be the way to go?
I would like to keep FS9 as is and if I kept FSX on a separate harddrive they wouldn't trip over each other?

Steve,

I have FS2002, FS2004 and FSX, (together with CFS2, CFS3 and IL2 - not that I bother much with that lot these days), all sitting on my Drive C: and they all perform without interfering with each other.

I am a novice in these matters but I would go ahead and install it. I have a second drive but I dedicate that solely for imaging Drive C: via Acronis True Image v.11, which is brilliant.

Hi Steve :)

My twopennyworth :cpu:

Back in the dark days of the FSX demo, some folk reported probs with FS9 and FSX installed on the same drive if FSX was then uninstalled as it tended to take bits of FS9 with it. Whatever happened between then and now seems to have been fixed and a few here have both sims living on the same drive (I don't but I tend to be the cautious type)

If you get FSX, then install SP1 and SP2. If you later buy the acceleration pack.. you'll have to uninstall SP2 first otherwise the 'AP' will abort. ;-) I don't have the 'AP' but I know someone that does and this is exactly what happened. We bought him the AP as a crimbo present and silly me let loose that SP2 was out. He of course downloaded and installed it and we/I thought nothing of it until christmas when he tried to install the AP!! That's all it took though. No mention of SP1 at all (which he had installed). He just had to remove SP2 and the AP went on sweet as a nut ;-)

I have both FS2004 and FSX living on the same drive/partition with no problems and it isn't the C: drive either! :)

I have a separate partition which contains all my games and game related files.
