I think that the missing link
infact ,.if both members are flying chippies
but one in in a paint scheme that the other does not have
he'll show as a default aircraft, or something......

glad to hear you experienced that Peter, it is alot of fun.

I wouldn't mind joining at a later date, if and when you get an FS Host server going (so FSX users can join). The good thing about FS Host Client with FSX is that you can select the aircraft you want to display everyone as, so if there were any issues between FS9 and FSX versions of the aircraft, you could always just display FS9 users in the FSX version. I'm unsure if FS9 users are able to do the same.

That timing is good for me, at least the first hour or so. Could somebody post an 'idiots guide' to this FS host server please. Oh, does 'next week' mean this week, or the first week in March?

Well when he was in FSX and I was in FS9...We were both flying the Dreamfleet A36 but mine was Little Bandit...So naturally he did not have that texture so I was seeing two Little Bandits. When I was in a Chipmunk I saw one Chippy and one Cessna but then he was flying a BF109 which I don't have so I presume he was seeing a BF 109 and a Cessna too (He did say that he did not have the Chippy installed).

I'm assuming that if we both have the same aircraft AND both liveries are in our machines then we would both see one of each livery?

edit...He didn't see Meigs as that is not in FSX.

Hey Peter, was great to meet you online. You sure displayed some crazy flying! :flying:

That is correct.
You can however fool Fs in displaying another aircraft by changing the line 'title=...' in the aircraft.cfg
If you want to see a certain aircraft on screen (For screenshots purposes etc.) but the other player doesn't have that particular model or paint, you can give him the title of the aircraft you want to see.

You can find the FsHost client for FsX here, Trev: http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost/

It's as easy as can be, really; just download the 'FsHostClient 1.1' (About 350 kb), extract all four files to a folder of your choice (I'm using G:\FsHost, on the same disk as my Fs installs), and then run the 'FsHostclient.exe'.
Two screen will pop up; in the 'Connect to an FSHost multiplayer session' screen you enter your player name, the IP adress (Or the name of the client:'Entering 'Netwings.org' will work too). Leave the 'connect port' set to default unless the person that runs the client tells you otherwise. Then click 'Search IP for sessions'. Now click on the name of the server in the 'sessions found' window, enter the password if required and click connect. The chatbox will now appear. You do not even need to start FsX first!

Peter, really pleased that you enjoyed your first multi-player session, I found it extremely satisfying and has given another new dimension to flight simulator flying. Would you be interested in joining the circus next week? Would be great to have some-one to advise on the art of formation flying!!

Trev, in answer to your question it will be the first week in March, maybe a couple of evenings during that week but depends largely if the other guys want to do it again.....and again.....and.....!!

Umm, just read this!!

Just what exactly did our Peter do? :worried:

Hello Ferror...I didn't know you were one of our lot!...Thanks for your kind help last night...You offered some commands that can be used and I was a bit tied up at the time...I would certainly like to copy and paste them now :) I get the feeling that quite a few of us who are new to this would like to get a bit deeper into it, so your advice will be very welcome :flying:

Just a bit of dogfighting Nigel and some of my usual inverted stuff...I'm not sure that the city of Chicago really appreciated it though!
