C and B, not so much FS

Post by cjw50310 »

Hello all,

I attended a charity car show over the past weekend to raise money for the restoration of a local landmark. Back in the 1920's, a Des Moines resident decided to build a new house, and patterned it off The King's House in Salisbury.

I stumbled across a raft of Jaguar XK's (120 to 150), a smattering of MG's, the obligatory Silver Cloud and Silver Wraith, but also found some others that aren't seen too often this side of the pond. Did a bit of Googling about and found some of them are pretty thin on the ground in general. Here are a few snaps of the better ones:

And here's a shot up the front lawn:

I'm sure when they built it, the neighbors never thought they'd see such a thing in the middle of Iowa!

Thought it might be fun to share - and it served as a pleasant escape from all the presidential candidates larking about town lately.

Thanks for looking,
Chris

I thought that the Renown was a Mayflower - very similar shape but most Mayflowers were a light cornflower blue I think. Those cars appear to be in excellent condition standing still but do they all work or do they arrive on trailers?

From what I could tell, most of the cars were driven to and from the event. There were a few that I'm sure were brought in by trailer (some of the models on display were prior to 1910). There were some phenomenal Cadillacs from the 1920's and 1930's that I would love to have some snaps of, but the crowd was a bit thick.
