Couldn't tell you what the Tristars are like Kit but the 10's still have their seats rearward facing. A bit boring not seeing where you're going but makes for a very impressive pull in the guts when 4 Conways get lit!!
Fortunately, they have the only two seats in the house that DO face forward (though the others on the FD can be turned too) DM and I were lucky enough to have the cabin to ourselves (oh.. plus Tonks and the steward) so we sat at the back looking into the engines!! Can't remember 100% but I think the RAF Britannia I flew back from Malta on in '74 had rearward facing seats too. RAF aircraft are the only aircraft I've been on in this config
Several had the club seating in rows 1-2 but as none of the previous owners flew them in all coach it was indeed a Dan Air Lasham mod - I was alwasy told it had to do with the forward galley configuration
