Couldn't tell you what the Tristars are like Kit but the 10's still have their seats rearward facing. A bit boring not seeing where you're going but makes for a very impressive pull in the guts when 4 Conways get lit!!

I think Dan Air would have turned the seats around.

The reward is often done as it give a chance for groups to play card and things

RAF is reward facing and some civil aircraft working temp for the RAF had to have the seats turned around.

It is supposed to be safer in an accident as the deceleration pulls you into the seat.

Fortunately, they have the only two seats in the house that DO face forward (though the others on the FD can be turned too) DM and I were lucky enough to have the cabin to ourselves (oh.. plus Tonks and the steward) so we sat at the back looking into the engines!! Can't remember 100% but I think the RAF Britannia I flew back from Malta on in '74 had rearward facing seats too. RAF aircraft are the only aircraft I've been on in this config

Hi Dave

The Brits would have had rearward.....RAF standard.

As mentioned above many civil aircraft contacted on trooping flight with RAF serials had to have the seats reversed...but I can't say if that was all.

But certainly it was standard on RAF transport with proper seating.

Don't know if that's still the case.

Dan Airs Comets differed from Ship to Ship

Several had the club seating in rows 1-2 but as none of the previous owners flew them in all coach it was indeed a Dan Air Lasham mod - I was alwasy told it had to do with the forward galley configuration
