This joviality is all well and good but I work bloody hard to make the Viking pay and as some of you know, it doesn't make a great deal in relation to what I put into it. Bottom line is, I'm pee'd at losing one single fare.. especially as with the multiplyer, it works out at a great deal more than the sum of the one bod's arse!!

Have Global UK done this because we won't be partners with them??

I suspect it's just the guy running it. They don't seem to have changed their fares. Their "hub" is Birmingham and they're operating a DC-3, C-182, and C-208 out of there. I doubt there's a lot they can do to undercut us. All we have to do is be sure that whatever aircraft we have running that route, all of them are running the lowest possible price to still make a profit and make it unprofitable for them so they can't gain the revenue to grow out of Birmingham.

Yes indeed, I'd just been over and had a look. There are 3 of them (2 CEO's and a pilot) with an aircraft each. Interesting too that most of their routes (including EGBB-EGCC) are x16  Did we do crap like this when we were growing up?? I don't recall us gaining an extra bod per flight by undercutting anyone (I presume this is what happens being as we lose one)
I'm tempted to take a DC3 up there for a few days on 'Special Ops' but fuel there isn't cheap.. far from it in fact

They're on a multiplyer of x1000 too which I presume will drop in the fullness of time

Hi Dave,

I shouldn't worry about it too much as these occurences are few and far between. Quite why they would want to charge lower is beyond me. If they charged the same as everyone else they wouldn't lose pax and would gain extra revenue.

Well.. it could be but instead, I've decided to 'have a word' with Global UK's CEO. I'm a little miffed that he's mentioned 3 times in the 'Who's Who' list.. once as a student and twice as CEO of an airline (not the same one) and I doubt there are many folk out there with the name Julian Bamber! :-$

There are ways of doing things that do not (or should not) involve winding up the natives and I have advised him as such. Whether he changes his price structure.. well, that's up to him. Should he heed my advice, his airline will grow quicker and he'll make a damned sight more money. The choice is his

You will see a change to people having multiple identities on FlyNET soon, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Is that for the better or worse Chris?? I know it's not (strictly speaking) allowed at present

Basically we will be more active in maintaining the database and removing duplicate identities. Konny has indicated in staff discussions that he is willing to adjust the program to allow a pilot to be a member of more than one VA under certain conditions. There has been initial discussion on how to present a program to "clean out" the pilot membership roster once some changes to the database are made to allow us to clean out the redundant IDs (ones where a person created 2 IDs by accident), the unused IDs (ones where the person signed up and never used it), and the spam IDs. We will then discuss how we deal with multiple accounts that are actively in use.
