That Sim Outhouse Bronco

Post by Paul K »

Thanks to Trev ( Calypsos ) for pointing us to the A-26 Invader. Look at the names involved in it: no surprise its so wonderful!

While I was at Sim Outhouse, I also grabbed the North American OV-10 Bronco, another very recent release. I never knew that it could carry passengers and stretcher-case wounded behind the crew in that central pod.

Here she is over bandit territory in Vietnam!

The VC (no pun intended ), with stowage for essential survival gear. :k:

Look at that forward visibility!

On finals.

By the way, which famous Vietnam base that is down there on the first picture ? A clue...its unlikely an OV-10 was ever seen above it.

Its Khe Sahn Paul :)

BTW yes your correct about the pod - I attended an Open day at Dobbins ARB (Marietta Ga) in the early 80s When the Marine Reserve unit there operated them - and watched 8 skydivers emerge from the back end

Eight skydivers!

Given that passenger / cargo /cas-evac capacity, plus its firepower, range and good visibilty from the cockpit, plus a two man crew ( one to fly it, one to do all the rest ) it must have been an incredibly versatile aircraft.

But its not Khe Sanh, matey. Like I said, its a famous Vietnam base...but it would never have seen a Bronco overhead.

No Leif, not Hanoi, but you're getting warmer. While you are thinking I'll sit back with a nice glass of Bordeaux, and surf the web for articles on the Foreign Legion.
