Heh now that is what you call a terminal building My old Dad was telling me when he used to come here when he was younger and there would be all Viscounts and stuff there

Yes, there is a fake Rapide at the front also
Ive been inside quite a few times and its very nice indeed, everything is very retro and stylish. All of the old hangers have been done up too and look very nice.

Of course James.....when one mentions Brit at Liverpool one would tend to think of Brit Air the French airline or perhaps Britt that used to fly One-Elevens in the States :k:
I must be strange because I immediately thought of the Britannia that was being restored at Liverpool
Thanks for that Jonesey...nice to know it's actually happening

Hear, hear, love art deco architecture. The terminal at Shoreham, the control tower at Brooklands and the main office block at Hatfield are other good examples. One of my all time faves though has to be Budapest Ferihegy 1.

I remember AS A VERY SMALL BOY (!) watching planes from the top deck of the building and seeing all those Viscounts, and 1-11s. I also remember seeing a Dan-Air Airspeed Ambassador start up on the apron - the commotion and smoke was quite a sight. My Dad (now 80) has still got the cine film (8mm) somewhere.
Although I think the long runway was built then, the smaller planes used to use the runways in front of the terminal building, so from my vantage point I'd see them all the way from line-up to take off.
