Some screenshots of a repaint of the new Alphasim Vampire I'm working on. It is painted as a Vampire T.11 of No. 2 Sqn Rhodesian Air Force based at Thornhill AB in the mid 1970's. The T.11 served beside single seat FB.52s and FB.9s. The old Vampires were used with great effect together with Hawker Hunters and Canberras for counter insurgency operations in the so called "Bush war" of the 60's and 70's in Rhodesia. The twin seat Vampire T.11 and T.55 were prefered for attack missions since they had Martin Baker ejection seats, something the single seaters did not have.
Interesting...I flew several sorties in RRAF T11s in 1959 their numbers in my logbook I have written as RRAF 121 and RRAF 118. The three sorties I flew were R/P and 20mm Air to Ground attacks on Kutanga Range in June 1959
That was very interesting info! Thanks for sharing. I'll make a silver Royal Rhodesian Air Force paint as well with the Assegai "RAF" roundel. It will be RRAF 118 or 121.
Jens made an adjustment to his profile (email address) and couldn't get back in so created a new Jens  I've changed the old login to the new email address so he should be able to get back in as usual.. having deleted the new Jens-Ole
Tonks: I have made FS repaints of almost all aircraft of the RhAF, including the C-47 painted in the dull anti IR scheme of the late 1970's which is shown in the pic. If you want to take a closer look at the RhAF repaints(+ a few AIR Rhodesia paints as well) feel free to look at my screeshots collection: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... r%20Force/
Brilliant paint set Jens,
I have been looking at your others and it seems you (and possibly Garry) have missed a cool repaint of Ricks Viscount. According to my book, 'Britain's Rebel Air Force', at least one Viscount had a low viz grey scheme in 1979. Here is a rather poor scan from the book..........

Jens-Ole,
Here are a few Thornhill pictures taken on that detachment. The first one is the only one I have of one of the two RRAF T11s...the chap in the Right seat is RRAF and the one in the left seat is one of our chaps.
The other pics are all of our Venoms at Thornhill and Kutanga Range and somewhere else...The last two are me:-
