Ark Royal 4 and 5 with escort

Post by Rich »

Still setting these up, Ark Royal 4 and 5 in Manila Bay, wakes, smoke and ensign still to be done on the escort. No usable RFA's found to date.

Advice needed from the nautical gents among us as to the number of escorts there should normaly be and what formation before I get to far.

Ark 5 and escorts are from Simon Swallow's excellent Portsmouth Highrise Scenery. I moved them to the Philippines as this is where I am, for the FSX users there is a moving version in the Solent, very nice models.

Lovely Rich  That Portsmouth High Rise is a joy isn't it. Nice to see you've put some if it's components to good use

Dave, I did email Simon Swallow a few days ago re what I am doing and suggesting he released Ark V and escorts as a standalone version as it is easily placed anywhere, so far he has'nt replied.

Ark Royal 4 & 5 with escort

Post by hobby »

I decided not to download the Portsmouth high rise zip because the text states that VFR scenery is required and I do not use VFR scenery. Does anyone know if the high rise scenery can be used successfully with global 2005 scenery plus Gary's UK2000 airfields?

Wow looking good Rich!

Must admit now the Ark is out, I am getting withdrawal symptoms from developing naval scenery!

Must admit would love a HMS Victorious ploughing the Sout China seas.....

Victorious!! Works for me!!

Hobby,
You add Portsmouth High Rise as you would any other scenery area.. in your Addon Scenery folder so there's no conflict with UK2000  It matches UKVFRPhoto 'bang on' so I reckon you'd see just about everything out of place when using the default UK  I have recently removed my 'Southampton Sea Plane' bases (came as part of the Pilot's Boeing Clipper package) for this very reason. Some of the buildings were in the water and those on the other side of Soton Water were inland.. such is the difference in the coastline  You can always try it though.. it's free so the only thing lost will be a few minutes

Dave, having fun with my old mans slides at home, lots of great pics for the "Vic" in 68' and from the Glamorgan in 71' I just really need to learn to model so I can model as well as paint lol!!

Probably just me being dense!

I'm still ( :poke: ) using FS9. Is it possible to 'move' Mr Swallow's ships in that sim? And, if it is, how do I do it?

Realistically, I guess, I'm looking to find ways to move an existing scenery object to a different location. If somebody can tell me how to do it it opens up a whole realm of interesting possibilities for carrier ops.
