Dove + VC10 crosswind landing

this is me landing a Dove in 35kt and a VC10 in 60kt crosswind component.

Take no notice of Tonks, gergely. He is wrapped up in this alternative parallell world called Reality and he worries about things like limits in order to keep himself and his crew alive.

I thought your landings were extremely skillful in very testing circumstances.

Must say altough impossible in real life that VC-10 landing is very impressive.

Me? i would of been in the grass or somewhere less challenging.

Nice form on that VC-10 landing! I've always had a hell of a time in FS of being able to nail that smooth transition from crab to slip and still maintaining the centerline. I'd have been in the weeds eating crow for sure on that one!

Is it a manual glideslope and landing?

A lot of jets..in fact most I have seen in a crosswind fly wing low to the wind rather than crab :think:

Not seen it though in real life for a few years now :sad:

I don't know which would be considered normal or which is best

Hey Garry,
By no means am I an expert, but I think it depends on the aircraft in particular. I recall reading once that the 747 was actually designed to withstand forces from a 45 degree crabbed landing...since a wing-low attitude at touchdown would risk an engine strike. I doubt (hope???) that's not an issue on the VC-10, though!

Come to think of it it was One-Elevens, DC 9's and MD-80 or in other words clean wing types.

But that's thinking back without ever really taking much notice at the time. :think:
