It is my believe that this shouldn't happen if the airport layout is correct, ie. correct taxi numbering and correct use of closing/opening runways...
I must say I have never seen it. But that is not the same as it won't happen ;-)

Hm, I've had that a few times too.
For some reason ATC seems to ignore the obvious runway to use, because of the real world wind, and sends its traffic to some other runway.
Really bad news if it's Gatwick, Stansted or other single ruwnay airfields.... :tuttut:
