AIRBORNE EXPRESS YS-11

Post by alan cottrill »

Does anyone know or have any pics of the Airborne Express YS-11.
I am in the process of trying to do the interior bmp files, for AFG YS-11 V2.7 cargo, and i am doing the updated exterior repaints at the same time,i have the airliners pics only to go on,and Esa as updated the cargo compartment, and so i am trying to do day/night textures for it,at Esa`s request.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alan,

Not sure if these are any good to you. I took them a few years ago at Fort Lauderdale.

Thanks for the pics, they are similar to the ones i am using as a guide from airliners net,but a bit closer.
They look as if they are parked prior to resale,as the word airborne express as been painted over.
I am trying to find internal pics both day and night,so i can do the interior properly,as opposed to guessing, which is what i am doing at the present.
Also i wish to find out if these aircraft had flood lighting on the rear cargo door.
Aircraft i have seen, and the ones i have worked on did,and i am assuming this ys-11 did to,but without pics its pure speculation.
Thanks for the help though,as any pics are better than none.

Alan !

When your AIRBORNE EXPRESS YS11 is ready, I invite you to post news about its release over on the HJG forum .... so long as it's intended "FREEWARE" ....

http://www.simvition.com/hjg/

.... please include a couple of pictures featuring both port and starboard elevations.

This bird would be a nice companion for our AIRBORNE EXPRESS DC8-61F, -62F, & -63F models .... and undoubtedly of interest some of our virtual AE pilots.

Daft question, but is there actually any design commonality between this and the HS748 other than the engines and the general arrangement?

Nothing at all Toby

The YS-11 is a different size and had a different mark of Dart

A bit like the Herald/F-27 comparison

The latest mods done are the addition of a crew ladder, and night textures added to cargo door.
Esa is hoping to find is original aircraft apu mod,to add to the aircraft, and is also hoping to get time to add a pogostick, which will appear with the cocks/cones on eng shutdown.
Until i get the apu and pogostick mods, the painting cannot be completed, but she is done apart from these things.

I have received the latest mods from Esa tonight,i have to do a bit more weathering on the apu,and the pogo stick disappears at night,as soon as you put the cabin lights on,i have asked if its posible to change this,so that it would appear with either crew ladder,or the cargo door opening ,other than that,Esa as thrown not one but two cargo variants at me,one with and one without the apu fitted.
Hopefully the release of this aircraft to avsim will not be to far off now.
