What final format do you want - MPEG1, or MPEG2?
I'm guessing the former to be most compatible.
WMV would be created from Media Player - could try that too.

On its way back - e-mail slow tonight, particularly as we are on the same ISP. Took longer to arrive than to do the conversion once I'd figured out what codec it was.
