Today at Scampton

Post by Paul K »

A circuit or two in Rick Piper's wonderful new Chipmunk.

Sitting waiting for me:

The front office:

Taxi out to the runway:

Up we go:

Cruising round the circuit:

A steep curving approach. Notice how I've altered the viewpoint slightly to the right. This is the beauty of TrackIR's 6DoF facility.

This really shows the advantage of 6DoF. By moving my head, I can look round the nose in the sim, ideal for taxiing taildraggers. You can also roll your head, and move your face closer to the panel to read small instruments... amazing!

The Chipmunk is lovely, but there's another glamorous bird at Scampton today;

Its' been moved at least twice AFAIK, was outside 4 last time I was there,
,but then there were Vulcans there too then  there was a campaign to get it back where it should be, and a, er, umm, 'initiation' for new guys
that involved doing something after the Mally closed.
