I had a jaunt up to Glasgow for the CBFS va to give it a go.
It was windy, 40kt+ on approach, but down to 20 at the runway.
Slightly disapointing because it was all quite steady for me & blowing nearly in line with the runway too.
Think I got lucky/unlucky.
It was good, but not half as scary as Sunday's landing at Glasgow was.
I flew from Glasgow to Stansted real-world today. Just boarding and walking down the aisle to the rear of the swaying A319 was fun. Take off was pretty uneventful in the end.
Well...if you like it windy and cold...come to North Dakota!
Luckily the wind has died down, but over the past day and a half we've been having winds out of the NW gusting over 30kts, with surface temps around -27C at night. Now the wind is less than 5kts, but the temp is -30C.
Last night at work I was bored so I did a density altitude calculation and given the prevailing conditions the DA at the time worked out to be over 4000' BELOW sea level (KJMS is 1498' MSL). I guess that would be somewhat off the performance charts.
I got home from work this morning at 0600 to discover my furnace had ceased working during the course of the night...not a pleasant surprise
It's back up and running now...
Regards,
Scott
