A lot of the luxury travel was Pullman type class

The aircraft were fitted out in the same way as the most luxurious railway carriages of the time, as much as weight would allow.

That was the way it was done then and the similarity is quite deliberate.

Luxury railway coaches was a practiced art and the internal shape was similar.

Some of the French aircraft looked like coaches on the outside to a certain extent as well.

Imperial had no plastic cups or sandwiches. What about that galley!!

You were aboard those aircraft for days in 1935.

I really do regret the loss of the 'Blue Pullmans' London to Bristol and London to Birmingham. Current air and rail facilities leave much to be desired and just like the loss of 'named trains' we seem to have lost individually named aircraft and flights.

Nowadays it's just a way to get there

At one time the travelling itself was an experience to behold at both ends of the trip

Perhaps it's the way most would choose to travel as quick and as cheap as possible, but I feel the old fashioned touches should still be an option

Like Hobby says even the lack of names cause a lack of personality. :sad:

even the old buses had an unmistakable smell of varnish wood polish and leather..............now the smell is quite something else.

My Mum used to make sure we were wearing shirts with collars whenever we flew BOAC/BEA in the early-mid 70s! Going low-cost nowadays and seeing the cabin crew wearing polo shirts and fleeces as their uniform just doesn't seem right!
