Falcon Airways Viking

Post by Garry Russell »

Falcon operated this single Viking initially from Blackbushe.

They are probably better remembered for their pair of HP Hermes.

As with so many a few seasons and they were gone.

Hi Leif

Still quite a few British to go yet

Someone already did Lufthansa a while ago

There were a lot of German in pseudo BEA but I have no idea what colour the striping or titles were.

That for the future maybe

I did finish a non airline British today :-#

Leif,

I mentioned D-BORA in one of the other Viking posts. I thought I had seen it at Heathrow, but in fact it was at Biggin Hill in May 1964 with its mate D-BONE in Condor Flugdienst colours. And I have a note that D-BORA was broken up same month.

Be nice to see it again

Ian

Edit:

I see from here

http://www.save-a-viking.org/de/vikings_d.html

that they had been sold to Autair for spares.

Ian

Garry and I have been talking about DBORA for sometime - she wound up at Luton as a spares acft lay derelict behind Autairs hangar for almost two years and 10F Sqdn ATC started to dismantle what was left with the ide aof taking the fueslage and turning it into a classroom at the Squadrons HQ -
work stopped when it was found there was a little too mucvh work to move the 5 miles from Luton Airport to 10Fs HQ. Finally she was totally broken up and carted for beer cans

Yep ..Leif and I have had the Germans under discussion for a while now.

She had the Valetta type freight door added.
