Any suggestions chaps?

Thanks.

The "flares" are an unfortunate side effect at dusk / night when FS thinks the smoke is lights  About the only thing you can do with that is disable the smoke effects.

re. the elevator trim. What version of the flight model are you using? This happened with the original version when using the autopilot with the elevator flutter fix. Try downloading the latest fix from my website and using that.

DaveG, it certainly looks like a FF thing a number of different models with bad FF settings display that type of thing.

captkidd, if you have a FF stick download the fix from DG's link

Those "flares" look like a smoke effect that needs one minor tweak. Open the aircraft.cfg with Notepad, and find the name of the smoke effect that's used by the plane. Locate that effect file in the Effects folder, then open Notepad again and drag that effect file into the Notepad window. Hit F3 and search for the all occurrences of the word shade. I think you'll find that it's set to "shade=0" which means that it remains at full brightness after sunset. Change that to "shade=1" and you should find that the "flares" effect goes away.

As for the flight dynamics, I don't have the plane, so I can't say what that might be.

Thanks for the info Tom. I've just checked the smoke fx file and the shade setting is shade=1 already.

I believe the problem lies with FS itself. When I was first informed of this problem, I tried some substitutions and found that it only occurs when the effect is used in the "light" section of the aircraft.cfg, rather than "smoke" section. The Hunter uses the smoke in the light section, as the smoke section is used by the wingtip vortex effect.

Thanks for the info Dave. I've had FS9 for almost 3 years now, and I'm still learning new stuff!

Moderators, is Tom allowed on this forum if he doesn't have DG's Hunter?
