AAD 2006 at Ysterplaat

Post by Philip Foglar »

Hi guys,

I went to the AAD 2006 on Saturday held at Ysterplaat and took a few photos and videos with my little camera, nothing spectacular, but got a few decent shots considering the camera being used and storage space etc. I took some photos of the Shackleton as well as a couple of short videos along with various others aircraft. There are some pics and a vid of the Rooivalk, then and a flyby of the four Thunder City Lightnings!

Tragically one of the Sasol Tiger L-29's crashed on Friday afternoon into the sea while practicing their formation. As far as I know, the plane broke away from the formation and the pilot then ejected, but was too close to the water and was most likely killed on impact with the parachute then seen to be pulling him under the waves.

All the best,

Philip.

Great shots, Philip. Although the video of the Lightnings was only a couple of seconds long, it still made the hairs on my neck stand up! Thank you.

Ja, it's a pitty that I was running out of space so quickly. There were so many things to look at and to shoot. I ended up deleting a lot of good stuff thinking that the next vid would be worth more. The Lightning flyby was literally a last second decision and required a deletion first. LOL

A friend of mine had a proper vid camera and took some good vids, hopefully he will be able to edit and put some up.

All the best,

Philip.
