Berlin

Post by RAF_Quantum »

Hi Guys,

I'm sorting through flights at the moment and want to sound you out on my ideas regarding Berlin. There are some flights that operated into Gatow with the DC-3 and the Viking and these were transferred to Tempelhof in the early 50's. DC-3's and Vikings still operated into Tempelhof although the Vikings not so frequently. Amabassador, Viscount, 1-11 and Tridents all operated into Tempelhof. There is some scenery to instal Gatow but to be honest it's a pain and screws up the default Frankfurt scenery. To make things easier and avoid complicated scenery instals I'd be happier to forget Gatow and concentrate just on Tempelhof.

Hi Garry,

I'm sure it will come in handy, I'm compiling the German internal routes for the 1-11's plus others.

I just took the oppertunity to mention it as that is where it should be in that livery rather than on BEA network.

OOOpppppss just noticed I posted this in the wrong thread - hope it helps some

Dan Air started Tegel with 2 1-11s - rotated back to LTN on a regular basis
They operated Turkish Migrants from IST/IZM - after about 2 years of operation they were expanded to German IT flights to the usual bucket and spade destinations (LEPA/LEIB/LEMG/LEGE etc etc - ) To the best of my knowledge Dan Air Comets never operated full service - they replaced the 1-11s when they went to maintnenance - however the 727s did join the 1-11s in Tegel because there was Boeing maintenance available there

Beyond 1980 I cant tell you but I believe the 727s were replaced yet again
by 737s but the 1-11s continued almost to the end of their days
