As heinous acts of terror have killed innocents in other nations, most notably the UK and Spain, I have been quick to express my solidarity online. Players in my online golf tour all wore black hats to play the Open last year at St. Andrews as an expression of support .
Here in the States, the media has been all over the 5th anniversary, and docu-drama movies have been cropping up over the past 8 months. As a former film student, I can tell you that the best of these is the widely-acclaimed "United 93," which I wrote a review of in several FS-related forums. It was released on DVD last week, and is an unbiased presentation of what happened to the doomed 757 that focuses on the humanity of all involved, even the terrorists. The film does not opinionate either, and is thus recommended for a worldwide audience. I hope that it recieves Oscar nominations.
It does not matter what your politics are. At least you can respect the hundreds of public-saftey-offcer-heroes who willingly went into harm's way to try to save lives, and, if prayer is a part of your life, I ask that today you remember all who perished needlessly five years ago. Never forget, and may it never happen again.
