Friday The 13th ( 56K Warning)

Post by Paul K »

Alphasim's Halifax with Gerald Flores' repaint. "Friday The 13th" flew 128 operations with 158 Squadron and survived the war. Before she was finally scrapped, the nose art panels were cut out, and today hang in the RAF Museum in Hendon, north London.

This model has really rekindled my interest in the Halifax and the units that operated her. :smile:

Taking off and tidying up;

Trimmed and cruising along. She's very easy to trim for level flight;

Looks a bit chilly out there;

Staying under the clouds for the photo-shoot flight;

Bomb doors upen...okay, be honest and hold your hands up...how many of you didn't know the Halifax had three little bomb bays in each wing ?

Heading for home;

Finally a couple of 'vintage' shots;

Sorry mate! By the way, check this thread for discussions about problems with the radios.

Nice shots Paul :wink:

The FD on the Alpha Halifax is a bit suspect too and was being looked at by Brian Withers. Unfortunately, he's away for another week but perhaps he'll pop in on his return and let us know what the state of play is :wink: I'll add at this point that BW has been looking since the Alpha model came out so I hope it didn't go on the back burner :think:

Thanks for that Dave. I certainly hope he hasn't lost interest in improving her. :smile:

Hi Paul,

No.. I don't think he's lost interest. The Halifax holds a special place for Brian as I'm almost certain that his father flew them.. along with York's and aircraft of a similar ilk :wink: He has his fingers in loads of pie's.. not least of which is the Newark Air Musem where he looks after the Shack MkIII(Viper) plus they've recently had a nice new SAAB which has needed some reassembly.. giving them a Viggen and a Draken :wink:
I don't think it needs too much work (the Halifax) but it could be better and Brian's 'touch' will be enough :smile:

I hope so, Dave. Seriously, this model makes me wonder whether I should learn how to make a panel, or even a VC maybe! It'd be worth the pain just to get us a proper Halibag.

If you hear from Brian, please give him my regards and ask him whether he's made any progress.

Paul,

Thanks for posting these excellent shots. They've certainly helped make my mind up about whether or not to get the Alphasim Halifax. As for the repaint, am I right in thinking it’s available through flightsim.com or similar?

Alex

P.S. My hands up, I didn’t realise the Halifax had bomb bays in the wing!!! :redface: :shock: :smile:
