G-ASGA

Post by blanston12 »

I have finished another round the world trip, returning G-ASGA to Heathrow. She is down to 96.2 and could probably use a tune up and maybe oil change.

This trip including a detour to SFO included 27,254 miles, 298,101 kg of fuel and 129,084,600 profit for the VA. It only took me 34 days to complete the trip.

Oh!..

Dave I didn't realize that your were elected maintenance manager for the Ten's?

Guess our VC10's will all be good hands then ;-)

Expect to have GolfKilo in for an overhaul in a week or two as well ;-)

Btw. do I HAVE to return her to EGLL?

As EGLL seems to be the only HomeBase for the 10's....

Weren't Stanstead more used those days? Forgive me my ignorance, but I thought that Heathrow weren't finished yet or only just completed when the VC10 was retracted from service?

Hi Dan,

At the moment, LHR does seem to be the only base for the '10' fleet although I think I've seen flights from other airports in the UK for them (EGCC??).

They're from all different places, but their base is currently mentioned as Heathrow (in the VA that is).

My question regarding whereas Stanstead was used "in them days" was in reality. Think I've read something about that Heathrow wasn't all completed until almost before the VC10's was taken out.

Sorry Dan I thought you were joking before......Heathrow has never been finished as such and is still being added to now.

But the Heathrow as a full blown Airport dates from well before the VC 10 entered service

Stansted was not used much in those days, not a major pax treminal like now.

Some of the Heathrow Airlines were a Blackbushe before and BEA Northolt but that was before the mid 1950's.
