Aarrrgh....object crash at OIII !....

After a Loooong x1 flight from EGLL to OIII, I finally landed at night.

A very smooth landing, apparently it took too long before the reversers brought me down to 60, because when I was just about to hit the brakes....boing!..speed limit (on the RWY!!?)....

Well if that was not all, I decided to taxi the whole way to the gate, sneaking away with 10 knots, turned left and CRASH!...I apparently rolled over a taxi sign!....

lost everything.....

Sorry...from now on, I will hit the parking brakes as soon as I have left the RWY, preferably before I event go down to 60 knots.....

Sorry.....I won't happen again.

If at first you don't succeed.............cheat, switch off crash detection

It happens Dan :dunno: Just finished a flight and looked at VA rep, it says 120 on my screen.

surprisingly the AC received very little damage, your still in OIII and the status percent is 99.2. When flying for another airline I once forgot to lower the landing gear and the AC lost 10%.

Don't feel to bad, its was bound to happen sooner or later. We will get the reputation back soon enough.

Hi Dan,

Luckily we've not been hit hard for long. Unluckily it must have been fatal for all pax as none survived. As Sean says, perhaps crash detection should be off, I don't consider it cheating as Microsoft game code is not very realistic. I've heard some people have crashed due to invivible scenery objects and also the AI is very unpredictable as you are well aware.............

............ while turning on to the beam for RWY 27L a Speedbird 757 roared in front of me just a few feet away. No ATC warning, no nothing, luckily he was at good speed, and I was at my slow 160 so he just passed me. That sure made me awake!...

Thanks for cheering me up, that was needed... I had a bit of a sore mouth when I went to bed (this early morning....)

Well they DO have some harsh taxiway-signs down there in Iran, as they apparently killed all passengers, and the crew.

I might well turn off crash detection.....

I have the habit of retrieving add-on scenery for every destination I'm bound for, incl. AI etc. etc.

I had read that the scenery for OIII have had some serious troubles with crashing into invisible objects etc. but that should have been sorted out. So I pre-visited it a couple of times with no evidence of crashing or the like. Other than that the AI- MiG's jumped and bounced while taxiing so they weren't able to be seen in dust clouds...but nothing more than that.

So I took the chance, but alas.....you've heard the rest.

One good thing though: I've implemented AISmooth, and THAT did a whole lot of difference to the availability of RWY's ;-)...I was even allowed to continue landing at he same time an A340 took of, He lifted off in the same instance I sat my wheels down. Something good, and something bad. One must say that the introduction of FLYNet has done the Simming a bit more interesting.

I'll try to scrape up the remains of my passengers, and head of for the next destination on route 1540....hopeful a bit more successful next time...

To be honest Dan, I keep 'detect crash' rubbish turned off too as it's so far out as to be totally unrealistic. I've had object crashes before while nosing up to a gate and there's been a gap large enough to pass several buses through.. sideways. Also, it's useless having it turned on while in MP as anything less than around half a mile has one or both crashing :tuttut:
Rubbish Dan.. complete rubbish!! :huf:

Chin up mate.. it was bound to happen at some point and I'm glad it was you and not me!! :worried:
