Apologies to Keith(DevOne)

Post by MilesMan »

Sorry for not commenting on Keith's post re his condition, for which I have great sympathy. I have been tied up with my own diagnosis of terminal Oesophageal cancer in the gullet. I developed swallowing difficulties end of November 2023 and have since had endoscopy, CT, PET scans and a colonoscopy to remove polyps. My condition is not operable as my lungs are not strong enough to withstand an operation which involves collapsing one lung. I have had an operation to insert a oesophageal mesh stent which will enable me to eat slightly more than just soft mushy food. I am also on a chemotherapy program which may give me one year plus. Without these I was given about 6 months, so here's hoping!
Does not look like I will be able to get into doing repaints for MSFS for which I am sorry.

Regards to all,
Pete Watkins(MilesMan)

Holy sh... Pete,
That is awful news.
We do have an ageing Membership, so, sadly, I guess we'll see more of this.
I am not admin here, but I invite you to share your feelings either through the Forum, or to my PM.
Hopefully, you have local friends and or family for support, but don't forget that we are here for you, FWIW.
I send you my best wishes for a comfortable time, and hopes that you are in good hands.

Hi Pete, saddened to hear that and I truly hope they are wrong in their diagnosis. Unfortunately Mike is correct about our membership too

Really sad to read your post, Pete. Fingers crossed for a successful outcome to your chemo programme.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Guys. I have had a lot of support from my wife and offspring and also friends and neighbours locally. I am determined to fight this and carry on my gardening and D.I.Y activities and local walking as much as possible. Will keep updating with my progress. Thanks once again for the comments, it means a lot.

Peter, what awful news, I don't envy your situation and no apologies necessary. And I think about a lot of friends recently diagnosed, one with an inoperable brain tumour, then there is family, my daughter having had a mastectomy, but battling side effects of chemo, and my son in the Brompton with a bypass op - couldn't have a stent as the blockage in a difficult position. In the meantime for the last month I have been experimenting (with the blessing of GP & Parkinson's specialist & Nurse) on myself trying to space the medication smoothly through the day, which of course takes all day to find it hasn't changed and it still aches when you want to go to bed....I am hoping that I have cracked that nut today as am just monitoring the result of the latest adjustment today as I have slept better for the last few nights!! If it does work it is possible that the sequence may be of use to others who are on the same medication.

Hi Pete, i really don't know what to say other than you both are in our prayers. Hopefully the chemo helps and the spacing of the medication helps you Keith.
