FSX Scenery v MS2020

Post by Nigel H-J »

Interesting video comparing default sceneries in both platforms. Admittedly FSX was released 14 years ago and since then graphics have come a long way in this time.

I will repeat what I had written in another thread today: As I was sat flying around over in France a thought occurred to me and that is when MS2020 comes out, I cannot think of a better way to be able to fly worldwide with one payment to MS and not shell out extra money for sceneries such as Germany, France as well as major airports just to make the sim look more realistic!!

Though some-one will no doubt correct me on this but even the default aircraft have been much improved in MS2020.

Its undoubtedly much much better. having said that, (and the developers have said themselves) it will still need 3rd party addons in many areas.

As I've said before, there's no global product that will add the touches to like the small airfields in Scotland or the bridges in Newcastle etc. I love my Gen X VFR and all of the Scotflight and UK 2000 addons, but when I go outside the UK its very dull. So what I gain globally, I may loose locally, unless they can bring the 3rd party developers with them.

Hi Ben, been searching around to see what smaller UK airfields will look like in MS2020 but unfortunately all they seem to be interested in are the larger airfields but I did read that all airfields will be made available for MS2020, how good they may be is the question also wonder what RAF airfields will be modelled like!

Thanks Nigel
Definitely pleasing to the eye. :agree:
Weather effects are way up there, San Francisco eg.
The realistic buildings transform the whole thing, and other infrastructure appears to be attached to the ground, instead of plonked on it.

One odd thing I noticed, was the edge distortion in the Queenstown NZ demo at 1:24. I would not like to fly in the aircraft at the bottom of the screen, with its wonky wings. :worried:
Cheers, Mike.
