Have any of you noticed that spam/junk email stops over the weekend.. by and large anyway? What do spammers do over the weekend? Do they spend time devising more dastardly schemes to fill the interweb with rubbish or are they, like us, bored to sh1t with it all and just take the weekend off? It's something I've pondered many times
Just googled it and possibly the main reason for this appears to be that it's probably a matter of powered-off zombie computers and spammers trying to get mail to people while they're actually checking their inboxes so the spam isn't lost in a giant weekend backlog.
That said......there may be a completely different reason.

Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
There's a strange irony in that some of my junk comes FROM gmail. They're obviously good at stopping it getting in but can't be arsed about it leaving!
Can't say I get much if any these days. P'raps it is down to my ISP or my own defences. I don't use GMail at all even though I seem to have an account which I do not recall ever signing up for, I never use my Hotmail anymore. I do use Facebook and there clearly am are spied upon through cookies but it is non intrusive.
I use Kaspersky (paid), MS Defender (free), BitDefender Anti-Ransomware (free) and Malwarebytes (free).
Perhaps I'm just too boring to be spammed.
I use whatever is built into Windows 10 and outlook.com and never get anything... Other than what outlook.com puts in my junk, which is almost always correct.
Yeah.. it goes in my junk folder (Hotmail) but I'd sooner not have it there. Blocking it seems to have no affect at all.. the more I block, the more reaches my junk folder Once upon a time, I thought you could block a range of mail from an ISP by using *.* before the @address but that doesn't work.. at least not now anyway. I wonder if all the junk would stop if I actually bought some Viagra from Canada.. the source of most of the crap I get!
You're worse than my aunt Maureen. If its in junk, its caught it. Just dont look in there and it will delete it automatically after whatever the time period is, 30 days i think. You can change the settings on what to do with junk mail, and I think one option is to delete it. If you don't want to see it, that might be the best option... Or just stop looking in junk
