Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet

Post by Aharon »

I got for early Chanukah present a nice latest version of Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet. I am totally new to the world of tablets. LOL I have no problem handling and understanding the tablet. I am even using the tablet for latest aviation weather reports for any airport while flying on Vatsim using my laptop.

However, I have a question. Is there any cool free APP or website where I can look up at any airport's diagram charts, approach charts, and departure charts? I tried some websites and found out there were not free or too small with no ability to resize to bigger size for me to read on eight inch screen.

Is there such an free APP where I can click on it, it asks me what airport, I punch in 4 letter airport code, and presto it brings up the airport's charts?

If not, what do any of you suggest how I can get any airport's charts for viewing on eight inch screen tablet while I am flying on laptop, please?

Thanks,

Aharon

Hi Aharon :hello:
if you are flying online with Vatsim you need up to date charts and there is no freeware package that will give you that. Ive been there myself a few months ago when I started flying with Ivao. Navigraph app may be what you are looking for
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... aph.charts obviously you need a navigraph subscription but I think that's all. it runs on android so should be ok on your tablet.
Although not particularly cheap, I went for Avilasoft flight bag which I run on a separate laptop networked to the sim I can plan a route and on an aircraft which has an fmc I can transfer the route directly. Again you need a separate navigraph subscription to keep your charts current but the same navigraph data is used on the aircraft fmc files so the fmc picks up the same routing including sids and stars. During flight, the charts change automatically from departure airport through the stages of flight to arrival. It can show the position of your aircraft on the chart and ai traffic. Also can show online traffic so you don't need webeye running or the vatsim equivalent. Unfortunately only available for pc so no good for your tablet
