JF/AH Mosquito released

Post by DaveB »

Hi Chaps :hello:

As the title says.. the much anticipated JF/AH Mossie is out. It's on special offer too at £19.99 (until Tue I think).

Image

There are a few things I'm not struck on. The soundset is less than convincing. The nav lights are also less than convincing (being kind here) and the props have the same effect as seen on the Corsair Birdcage. They look ok from front to rear but a bit odd when viewed t'other way round.

The paints look good and it's a nice flyer. Good to see the fighter version ;)

I'll pick this up later.
Did they remove the LH reinforcing strip Dave?

That's good. :)
It looks nice. I'll probably end up modding the hell out of it anyway.

Two questions, Gentlemen:

This is the same one that Filonian posted?

How do you mod the hell out of payware DaveG? Presumably not the appearance, just FD and other stuff in the .cfg?

 I don't usually go that far. Mostly cfg and texture tweaks but sometimes I do tweak the material settings in the mdl. :cpu:

Well, after half an hour flying around I reckon it's not too bad at all. The VC is really nice. Those nav lights will have to go though. and like Dave, I don't like the prop texture / animation much. Will have to fiddle. :cpu:
It would have been very easy for JF to have added TacPack compatibility, although the bomb type would be incorrect. I'll have to look at that too.

BTW.. the navs it uses are navgreh_8, navredh_7 and navwhih_9. I had a quick play this afternoon but it was too quick :worried: You can see why the nav whites are so big.. the same effect is used for the landing lights

Sorted those already Dave. And improved the prop texture rear view. ;)
If you copy the alpha channel from "prop_blur_3_t.dds" and paste into the alpha channel of "prop_blur_3B_t.dds" it makes a big difference. You'll need to resize it though, as one is 512x512 & the other 256x256.
