Graphic Problem.

Post by Nigel H-J »

Just hope someone may be able to advise what the cause of my problem is although I have for the moment seemed to have found where the fault lay and solved it!

I was using a HDMI Cable from my computer to the monitor and the graphics started to play up, initially I thought the worst that my graphic card was beginning to fail as the graphics did not do this all the time but mainly after switching views. I took out the HMDI Cable and replaced it with a normal one where you have to screw it in to secure it to the graphic card and the monitor.

Is it known for HDMI Cables to fail in this way as I don't think I have had it for more than 2 years.

Any help would be appreciated, please see screen shots below.

The last time I saw anything similar, it was caused by too many drawcalls overwhelming my XP3200 rig. Not saying that's the case here but that's my first thought. Thinking about it, my E8400 rig did it over Orbx PNW too.

A failing cable won't cause that sort of problem. Looks like it's the video card getting overloaded to me. Could be a heat issue though. *-)

Many thanks for your replies, surprised that you both suggested that it may be my video card becoming overloaded as I have been running the same settings for quite a while now. Maybe as a further suggestion that it could be overheating, I think it might be time to give it a careful clean with the hoover should it happen again as I am reluctant to do anything whilst it is working OK. As the saying goes, if it runs OK then leave well alone!! 8)

Again, many thanks to both of you Daves'.

Just thought I would give you an update on this problem I had. Every 9-12 months I always delete my fsx.cfg file then restart fsx. Some say the outcome is likened to having a fresh install of FSX. The last time I did this then I had the graphic problems until I later found out I had forgotten to put in HighMemFix=1. :wall: :wall:

Just goes to show how age can effect the grey cells. :help:
