Post by dodger »

Hi Gents,

I have just purchased the Harrier and getting to grips with it slowly, a fantastic model i think, the only thing i find is the rudder is so twitchy, i am using my faithful Saitek Cyborg 3D stick and i find the more i change the settings i still can't get it right,

I have fsx acceleration etc, it Hovers great so any help will be really appreciated, Thanks.

Roger.

Hi Roger, :hello:
I know at one time, John in NZ (Steelsporran), was interested in the Harrier, he may know something.
Maybe a PM to him?

Hi Mike,

I think my problem is i have been flying Helicopters for months and although the Harrier hovers it's not a Helicopter  it's fixed wing of course,

Silly OLD me ;) i am certainly enjoying it.

Thanks and i hope you are keeping well,

Roger.

Hi Roger,
Hope you're well, too! :agree:
Are you set to fully realistic? Try that.
You're only using a stick for all controls? Pedals RULE!
If you still can't control it, you can always resort to modifying the aircraft.cfg settings to reduce the rudder effect. :tonka:

And just quietly, there's nothing that beats getting older, mate. I don't want to try the alternative just yet.

I don't fly it enough to be able to comment Roger.. probably because it's so darned frame heavy. I don't like the shine off it either but that's another matter  Can't recall the rudder being overly twitchy but I never fiddle with my controller settings.. one flavour fits all ;)

Rgr that Rog

I think we have to assume these days that FSUIPC is pretty much a pre-requisite for both FS9 and FSX.. P3D too for those even further into the dark side. If you're like me.. it's one of those things I never ever touch. It's installed and that's that. You're never quite sure what needs it and what doesn't so it's nice to know it's there anyway.. just in case ;)

After all these years Dave of leaving FSUIPC to its own devices, I decided to interfere with it some. This was brought about because I bought two sets of Saitek throttle things largely to fly twins and multi engine jets. Now in FSX & P3D (& FS9 for that matter) they were impossible to calibrate exactly as each other which caused problems. Ergo FSUIPC - now all my controls are finalised through it and boy am I glad I went down that road. The throttle/mixture/prop controls are smooth and exact with each other, my yoke (Cessna Saitek) is much more positive and my 10 year old X-52 is like new again. At first it was a bit of a pain programming every single button, but after a while it became easy-ish.
Next .... LINDA? maybe we will see. :S

Indeed mate.. for some things, FSUIPC is an invaluable tool. I think the last time I fiddled with it 'seriously' was when I had a CH Yoke Pro, CH Pedals and CH Throttle Quad connected.. too many axis for FS9's liking  It all worked swimmingly with one exception.. reverse thrust on the quad. FSUIPC showed it to be functioning but it forgot to tell the sim. Never did get it to work though this could well have been me being a dipstick rather than anything wrong with FSUIPC ;)

This seems as good an opportunity as any to ask - I've seen quite a few references to LINDA, but haven't found any definition of it yet. Please can someone explain what it is and / or what it's for ...

Thanks in advance for any help,
regs,
Ro
