A couple from today..

Post by DaveB »

Looking around the hangar for something I've not flown in a while and stumbled on this..

CS C130..
Image

.. and something a little different.. A2A Spitfire Mk1 ICW John Young's AI Spitfires..

Any similarity between Douglas Bader's initials and mine is pure coincidence ;)

A couple of goodies there, Dave.
It's not everyone who can claim their own personalised markings.
WARNING - I read in "Reach for the Sky", that the squadron referred to the aircraft as "Dog's Body" *-)

Great pictures, DB. How do you find the A2A Spitfire ? Do you have the Accusim module for it ? :)

Hiya Paul :hello:

No Accusnot on this baby.. it's the original WWII Fighters version with A2A FSX patch which is pretty much the WOP2 model. I don't fly the Mk1 enough to justify A2A's prices for the WOP3 model either mit or sans Accuthing. It's still a nice model and perfectly acceptable for my needs. I needed a bit more from the Mustang so went full-ahead WBS and retired the WWII Fighters patched version. I still have it mind you.. never throw stuff away you might need someday  Likewise.. the WWII Fighters Me109e.. retired in favour of the FR 109K but not binned. I actually prefer the square wings on the E but prefer the FR model to fly.

EDIT: As an aside Paul.. the WOP3 model is a lot more 'fully featured' than either the WWII Fighters or WOP2 Spitfire and looks like it's had a complete overhaul. One thing concerns me though.. the glass. I've not seen the WOP3 model in the flesh as it were but I've always thought the glass in the promo vid has a horrible 'milky' look.. the same as in the AF He219 (which I DO have) and it annoys the hell out of me *-)

Ah okay, I thought it was the latest Spitfire. I have their old P-51 and Me109 but never really used them, despite there being FSX patches. Still not sure about getting the Accusim Spitfire - its something I feel that I should have, but the older I get, the more inclined I am towards ' get in, fly it - don't bother landing it, just exit the sim ' activity. Don't know about the glass, but I'll reinstall the Uhu and see if that's the same at this end. I don't recall it being milky, but again, the older I get the less I recall.

I've got a screenie of the 219 somewhere. I intended to upload it but looked at it and never bothered. Let's see if I still have it :)

EDIT: No.. all the 219 screenies went with my last windows install :| . Just dragged a variant off my old FSX and took another :)

It just doesn't look right does it. Fine from the inside mind you.. just the external view. The WOP3 Spit glass looks like this in the promo vid but the old WWIIF/WOP2 model is ok :dunno:

Dave,
from that image of the He-219, I would guess that this topic was trying to solve the same problem with the WoP3 Spitfire -
http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/s ... lue+canopy

I have a copy of the topic as well as DaveG's revised envmap file - sadly, I failed to get a copy of the other attachments that were in the topic before time wiped out the links. Not sure whether the revised envmap is all you need to fix the problem ...

Anyway, I wondered if that alternative envmap would fix your He-219 problem - DaveG's original link still works, so you could try it,

Ro

Cheers Ro :)

I trawled the A2A He219 forums looking for an answer.. the question was asked there by other users but not resolved.. it may not have been answered!! What problem??!! 8) Anywho.. I've added DG's map to the 219 and while it still looks a bit milky, it no longer has the blue tint.
