DG Hunter in Prepar3d

Post by Chris Sykes »

Hi, im hoping Dave might elighten us on how the hunter smoke system works as in Prepar3d the smoke doesn't work in FSX its OK... The Prepar3d version was installed from the zip's not copied over, however the panel files and aircraft cfg's look to be the same.

Hi Chris,

Strange one as I was sure I had the Hunter smoke in P3D before, but don't seem to have it now. Assuming you put the effect file into the P3D effects folder? *-)

I'll have to look into that Chris *-) As far as I know, it should work OK.

If you press the I key you get smoke but that suggests the smoke system isn't controlling the time it produces smoke...

The code should turn the smoke on and off depending on RPM, if I remember correctly. Can't recall if the code is embedded in the model, or a separate gauge. I did have an issue with the airbrake control code not working as embedded code in P3d, but worked fine as a gauge. Probably something similar.

BTW, the Hunter, and my other models, are neither designed for, or supported in P3d at this time.

As I thought, the embedded code isn't working for some reason. I've re-done it as a gauge, and added it to the panel.
Replacement gauge cab and panel.cfg files for both the single and twin seat models can be downloaded here: http://daveg.cbfsim.org/files/Hunter_gauges.zip
These are based on the panel.cfgs in the original downloads, so if you've made any other mods to your panels, you'll have to add those yourself. :)

Thanks Dave - not flown it in P3D as yet, but that'll be handy when I do
