ES IoS problem

Post by DaveB »

Hello Chaps :hello:

You may have seen the shot I took of an R66 landed on the nose of that liner. Well.. there seemed something odd about the liner being there in the first place but I couldn't place why it seemed odd. I've been using the Win7 machine for a bit (the shot was taken on the E8400) and a visitation there again today (the Win7 machine) showed why the liner was odd. It's not off the IoS.. in fact looking around, other than the default FS stuff.. there's no 'specific' IoS boat traffic there at all :-O

Now.. I've spent the best part of today trying to suss why I can't see on the Win7 IoS that I can on the E8400 and I've drawn a blank. The most obvious thing is a traffic file I know but I can't see anything on the E8400 that isn't present on the Win7 setup. The IOS Maritime folder is active in Win7.. it's the same one as the E8400 (I dragged it over) but no IoS boat traffic. As a last resort.. I've just disabled IoS Maritime Traffic on the E8400 and the ES Racers are still there as is the liner.. now disappearing off into the sunset so what the IoS bgl does that's it contains is a mystery. It certainly doesn't control the local shipping :dunno:

Any suggestions most welcome. I've reached the end of my tether and can't think of anywhere else to look. Where have ES hidden this traffic file *-)

Hi Dave,

If it is just one boat then it is probably the Royal Navy (in it's entirety). I see we now base ships overseas, is that because Portsmouth is now closed? :hide:

Thanks for that Nev 8)

It's not just the ocean liner.. I don't seem to have any ES boat traffic on the Win7 machine.

Now you mention the Navy.. I'll have to get Ben to make a traffic file for the fleet to sail there once a week

BOT.. I've looked again and again and I can't see what the difference is between the two machines. I have FSX set up with exactly the same settings on both.. the Win7 machine is using the 8400's IoS.. I've even dragged my boats folder from the 8400 to the Win7 machine in case the boats were missing. I've run out of options :'(

No problem Dave, always like to help.

In the meantime if it is any consolation, half my buildings in FS9 (where I have built scenery for Thorney Island and Lindholme) have textures while the other half are white. :dunno: This was after I moved everything across to the new machine.

Most annoying Nev :|

No Ben.. traffic sliders were the same. I've tried increasing all the water sliders to 100% and still no so.. this with the year, date and time identical on both machines.

A thought occurred to me that I have Traffic Toolbox installed on the E8400 so I checked to see where these boats are controlled from and it IS the IOS BTX file. When I removed them (unticked) on the 8400 and the vessels remained.. I presume them will do as they were already doing there thing. By shifting to St Just and back again.. they disappeared. I re-ticked IOS Maritime on the 8400 and they all shot into life again. There's no good reason why they shouldn't be showing on the Win7 machine.
This said.. I noticed St Michaels Mount had done a runner a week ago despite the flatten being in place (the default 'hill' was flat). I got that to show by making a separate scenery folder in addon scenery and activating it on it's own. I'm getting a feeling that the Win7 pc is toying with me a little  Piece of sh*t

Tks Dave :)

I think I've given up with it now. Having moved the BTX folder to the highest priority (thereby avoiding any possible excludes).. the majority of my IoS boat traffic refuses to show. No ES-Racers, Scillonian, Fishing boat, Millionaires yacht or Cruise liner :| Oddly, the carrier/cruiser/destroyer are present off the west of the islands *-) Ah well.. lets put it down to experience :(
