Do not really know how to explain this but some computer buff Win 7 experience may be able to help.
Had to put computer back to factory settings and after everything re-installed I have found that when loading software my screen goes blank then an icon with my user name comes on 'Nigel Locked' and underneath in another box it says 'switch user' Have searched high and low in the computer settings to stop this nonsense but without success. This is the first time ever this has occurred.
If any guru can give an abc of how to stop this happening and get me sannity back to normal I would be extremely grateful.
Many thanks in advance.
Nigel.

Have you tried switching user Nige? Looks like your rights have been changed but you should be able to unlock yourself if you go in as admin.. presuming you had an admin account too
Hi Dave it does give me the option to switch user then I have to create one!! think it might still mean that everytime I boot up the computer I would end up having to switch all the time - as for the admin account I think it was created when it re-installed all the software to factory settings. Just need to know how I can delete it if windows allows.
Many thanks

I'll have a look on my Win7 PC to see if I can find anything for you. I don't use it much at the moment.. mainly for looking at things my aunt and uncle have broken on their Dell laptop The default setting for the off button on it was to hibernate.. keep whatever they were doing and open windows back at that point. What a disaster. They got into trouble through no fault of their own and windows made the problem worse by restarting in the same mess they were in. It took me 20mins to get rid of all the instances of explorer that had opened. Up to this point, they'd always had to sign on but as if by magic.. this suddenly stopped.. nothing they'd done. They're a pair of silver surfers who don't touch anything they don't know about
Anyway Nige.. you shouldn't have to keep creating a new user each time you login. The important thing is for you to be able to get in to fix the problem you have now so at the login screen.. sign in as the new user each time until you can unlock yourself! In the meantime.. I hope one of the Win7 guru's pop's in

The first search I tried (in Win7 itself) gave me a load of do-do about bitlockers.. never heard of em That link appears to give a good tutorial on how to unlock an account but you need admin rights to be able to do it. As I said.. one of the chaps must know an easy way to do it so fingers crossed. Have a look at that link if you can get in at some point

My small note book is W7 and always comes up with Garry locked...but it isn't, I just click on Garry and I'm in.
Recently I tried to upgrade it to a better OS system (Windows XP) but it wouldn't and had to reload W7...that Garry locked is still there and not actually doing it...in may case.
