Hello ORBX lovers! There's a new library released and ready for download. This is version 121223, which shipped with the latest Milford Sound scenery, so if you've got that you don't need it. But I think that's only Peter.
It does contain some more library objects for FTX England so it's probably worth installing if you are an England user. Just run the installer and point it at your FSX folder (and P3D as well if you use both).
I also picked up this handy ORBX file from the forum. It slows down all the road and airport traffic to a more realistic speed. It affects all traffic globally (except emergency vehicles!), not just in FTX scenery areas, so back up your SimObjects\GroundVehicles folder in case you want to revert.
Thanks for the HU Ian. Installed the update and flew from London City Airport over to Tower Bridge to see if the HMS Belfast had been replaced. Sad to say she hasn't. ORBX, please replace the current model of the "HMS Belfast" with an accurate model. If the Gherkin building can have an accurate model the HMS Belfast deserves an accurate model even more so...and this comes from a person who was never even stepped foot in the UK. Ok, climbing down from my soapbox. Oh, did you know Tower Bridge has a landable surface?

Now what have you done?
I believe one of the additions in the new library is a selection of churches which make the villages look more English but I don't know what else as I don't have it. I know there was talk of moving people at airports and red phone boxes but don't know if they're in yet.
Anyway, the good news is that Service Pack 1 for England is imminent and it addresses the first tranche of complaints and errors. The Havant sub-contracting team have been off for their hols but when they return they will be getting a kicking to get it finished during January. The delay will be used to sort out even more of the issues raised on the forum. You DID raise the issue of the Belfast on their forum, Brian? Well, hopefully somebody did
Thanks for the updates Ian and yes you are right I do have the latest library...With regard to reducing the ground traffic speed, does it also slow down the taxying AI traffic speed. The reason I ask is that I am used to the AI aircraft taxying much faster than they do in FSX and P3D as I used a little utility called FS9 Configurator to speed it up to a maximum of 34 knots but a higher max of 37 knots when clearing a runway...The reduces the number of incidences of Traffic having to "Go Around" because of traffic on the runway. I would really like to do the same with my taxying speed for AI in FSX and P3D but I don't know if that is possible.
I certainly would not like the taxying AI aircraft to go any slower.
Hi Peter. It only affects vehicles that are in the SimObjects\GroundVehicles folder. Hence the suggestion that you should back up just that folder in case you want to revert.
Basically all it does is to change the max speed of each vehicle in their config files. It's something you could do yourself if you had the time but it seems to be a batch file that does it for you. I made a copy of the folder - so I can compare the new speeds to the old ones. For instance there's a fuel truck that has had it's max speed reduced from 115mph to 40mph! A fork lift truck reduced from 30 to 20 and most cars from 115 to 65. I checked it out at Heathrow and the baggage trucks move at a much more realistic sedate pace and I can now keep up with semi-trailers on the freeway in a helicopter, which you couldn't do before!
There's nothing to stop you doing it yourself if you have the time but it's probably easier to just copy the folder and adjust any that you don't like.
