ES Shawbury Fields

Post by DaveB »

Hi Chaps :)

I've been nipping around the lovely ES Shawbury Fields but have noticed a couple of anomalies at certain airports.. off the top of my head, Welshpool, Ternhill, Sleap and Cosford. Despite me having removed these airfields from UK2K using the 'options' method.. they're still appearing under/through the ES versions. I'm jiggered if I know why. I've checked the options folder in UK2K Vol2 and the removed airports all show in there. The only successful way I've got rid of them thus far is to disable the entire Vol2 pack from Scenery Library which is a bit extreme 8)

Anyone any ideas *-)

TBH.. I don't blame anyone for not replying to this. You must all think I've lost the plot

I swear that when I looked in the options folder in UK2K Airfields Vol2, the airports I'd removed using 'Options.exe' were in there. I've snuck back on the offchance and the only ones in there were Duxford and A-N-Other, both of which I removed to install ACG's scenery (Marham was probably the other). This time, I've not used options but dragged the files for EGOS, EGWC, EGOE, EGCV and EGCW out by hand and dumped em into the options folder then reinstated Vol2 in the Scenery Library. It's all fine now :dunno: I'd not been drinking and wasn't/am not on controlled substances.. honest :worried:

Is this FSX rubbish? if you want to use any other airfield that UK2000 already had covered go to the relevant scenery folder say UK2000 part 5 and remove ALL the bgls with that airfields name. That works when you use the UK2000 Xtreme Scenery so I guess it would work for this stuff as well.

To be honest mate.. you do the same in FS9  Excludes stop a lot of this happening but it's generally good policy to remove an underlying airport if you're gonna shove an updated one on top :)

Point here was, I'd never used 'options.exe' to remove airports before.. I looked for the offending bits, dragged em out and lobbed em into a newly made folder outside the scenery folder. Thought I'd be clever and use options.exe this time and while I swear they were removed at one point, they reappeared again. Oddly, Duxford and Marham.. both removed using options.exe.. remained removed throughout. I even checked options.exe again later and none of the airports I'd removed had ticks against them. It's computers mate. They all seem to have a hidden agenda
