Earthsim scenery.

Post by DaveB »

Hiya chaps :hello:

I seem to remember there being problems with ES Scillies and Alderney in that if you put the Scillies on first then installed Alderney, something happened that shouldn't have so the Scillies had to be uninstalled, Alderney put on then the Scillies added after. Is this right or am I imagining it? I may have got my new FSX install 'stable' and I don't want to cock it up

I remember something along those lines, but can't think of the exact details *-)
Not sure if the issue was fixed when they released V2 of their installer proggy.

OK mate.. thanks for that :) The ES installer is a bit of a pain in the old bum as far as I'm concerned. It'd be easier to know where all the bits have to go and put them there rather than trust 'it' to do it for you. I've complete installs of all 3 current areas in my old FSX and considered dragging them over but having tried doing this with one area once, I started getting a 'no license' warning flash up and I don't want to go through that again!

I asked the same question directly to ES as I prefer 'dummy' folders and her immediate reply was to set the 'dummy folder' as your 'scenery' directory within the ES installer.

I've not tried it yet as I was in the middle of mending what TS Scotland did to FSX (autogen doesn;t update correctly so have to use patch files available from ES) but it'll be useful in the future.
