Problem with the new Viscount

Hello fellow simmers,

I recently downloaded and installed the Viscounts. But I have a serious problem, that i've never had with the old ones. When climbing at certains speeds the plane suddenly starts to woble up and down. Changing the speed a bit seems to make the plane slowly stabilize. And second: I can't make the autopilot keep the pitch after switching it on. After a lot of turning on and off while steering the plane manually, i can make it work. I did not forget to wait for the ready light to go on befor conncting the autopilot to the control surfaces. Hope you can help me as this plane is an absolute favourite of mine, and the panels are looking so great. GREAT WORK Mr. MACKAY.

I've not seen this reported with the new versions yet so can't offer anything at this time. Fraser is popping in regularly so fingers crossed he'll pick this up soon

I've completed about a dozen flights in both P3D and FSX without issue. Can you tell us which of the models you're having the problem with?

It happend both with a 700 series aircraft and a 810 series. After trying 2-3 times with the same result I gave up. Tomorrow i will try with a 800 series and see if I get the same result.

Gentlemen,

I might here have to come with an excuse. I tried again today, and tried to keep the vertical speed down between 500-800 fpm, while staring at the IAS. I arrived at fl160 doing 155 kts IAS anf 500 fpm. Is that within the normal performance envelope? Plane was close to MTOW when taking off. Its really a bugger to admit that the VS problem is down to a pilot error. SORRY!!! BUT. After accelerating to 180-190 kts. the plane begins to woble up and down, and then it dies outand clmibs steady. The same happend to me ind the descend doing around 190 kts IAS and -1200 fpm. Is there a certain climb and descend profile that has to be kept - other tham what seems normal. I dont think the decend at -1200 fpm and 190 kts IAS seems especially violent, or is it?. And the weather was calm.

Hello Kim,

I've not come across this wobbling phenomenon thankfully.

You do have to keep an eye on the speed at all times during the climb. Initial climb speed is
180 kt on all types, and this should be maintained by adjusting pitch manually or though the
autopilot. When the vertical speed decays to 500ft/min, reduce speed to maintain 500 fpm.

Don't be tempted to set it up on the A/P for 180kt and then go and make a cup of tea, you'll
possibly come back to find you're almost stalling, remember the A/P is controlling pitch not
airspeed

Just an afterthought; you don't have a joystick assignment for an airbrake? There is one
report of difficulty on an F.27 which was cured by disabling that function.

What really puzzles me is that I used to have VCs in my Viscounts, but they disappeared with the new ones!

I went back to the 'old' versions.
