ORBX PeopleFlow

Post by speedbird591 »

I've just installed Fraps on the new laptop. To make sure it's working OK I did a quick vid of the PeopleFlow animations that ORBX incorporate into some of their FTX add-on airports. They're more effective than you might think as they're only intended as background movement along with AI and road/water traffic, birds and moving trees. They help make the airports alive. The next airport will apparently have creature flow...

And later, we're promised dancing girls! Honestly.

But whatever you think of it, the attention to detail in the airports is excellent.

Excellent stuff, Ian. :)

As with their Stewart Airport ( CZST ), rendered at 2cm per pixel, my first reaction to People Flow was 'Nice, but whats the point ? Its a flight sim. None of it matters from the 2000 feet up'. But thinking about it further, such features contribute to the sense of being there and inhabiting a real living world. If you are going through your pre-start checks, or tuning your radios, and in the corner of your eye, you see someone walking out of a highly detailed building towards a pick-up truck, it just adds another layer of immersion which you then carry with you into the air.

I suppose the bottom line is - if it can be done, then why not do it ? And besides, her at the Spruce Goose Cafe is a comely wench, isn't she. We'll have Filonian buying FTX at this rate. ;)

An ORBX developer has just posted some screenshots of how the upcoming Creature Flow might not necessarily be an advantage  ...

I wonder what sort of beasts they might be considering for the FTX UK airports at the end of the year - Goodwood, Shoreham and Southampton? Chavs, obviously, for Southampton, along with obese, tattooed women pushing double buggies and with a fag in their gobs.

Here's a little trial video I made of a landing at FTX's Stewart, British Columbia, in the Carenado Cessna Centurion.

It's in glorious jerky fraporama but not as bad as FSX. Turn the quality up to 1080p for the best experience :worried:

From the look of it, you are getting as good a performance from your laptop as I get from my i7 desktop, Ian. Money well spent there.
