An Old Favourite

Post by dodger »

Hi,

Well i have been flying this bird again in FS2004, a SGA DC10 and in one of my favourite schemes, out of Gatwick heading West, while strictly not a GB aircraft it certainly is a classic now, i think this was one of the best designs for an airliner and yes we have the MD11 but to me its not the same!!!

I live in the SE of England and do see the occasional DC10 but they are few and far between nowadays.

Enjoy,

Roger.

Nice shots Roger,

I'm more of a Tristar man, but BCal was always a good looking livery

I flew from Heathrow ( or was it Gatwick ? ) to Lagos, via Kano in 1976 with BCal, and I wonder now if it was a DC10 ? I have a feeling it was.

Nice shots

I always like the TriStar...I found the DC 10 a series of joined tubes.

No doubt a sound design to mount the engine without the troubled "S" intakes but laked style

In '76 it was more likely to be VC10.

Paul : you are almost certainly correct that it was a DC10 as I think that all the VC10s had gone ( to Malawi, Oman etc) by late 1974, and BCal did not acquire its only 747 ( known as Hitler's Revenge for some obscure reason connected with its lack of reliability) until rather later

Th BCAL VC 10's were sold off in 1973/4

Likely it was a DC 10
