Dissappearing mouse Pointer...

Post by timholyoake »

I have recently done a full re-install of FSX and my mouse pointer dissappears when I go into full screen mode. It is still active, as if I am very luck and manage to guess where it is iin realtion to a "Clickable button", the button will highlight and when clicked will operate correctly. However I have no idea where the pointer is in the first place. In Window mode, even when the screens are enlarged to fill the monitors, the pointer functions perfectly. but dissappears again when I click on full screen mode.

Help please?

Hi Tim,

Are you using the Windows default mouse pointers are do you have some 3rd party addon ones?

Another thing to try is make sure you have the current driver for your graphics card installed :)

Hi Mike,
Isn't it amazing what you don't know until it's pointed out? My old system sometimes used to lose it temporarily, and I'd put it down to memory shortage. I didn't know about trails and shadows, but I can imagine that they would unneccessarily clog memory.

Hi Mike -
I never actually 'knew' these things - I just had an instinctive dislike of cute gimmicky things which looked like chawing up GPU and CPU capacity
It's nice to be proved correct, after all these years :cpu:

Hi Garry, Mike et al.
Many thanks , Job done. I didn't even notice the trails were on. And I certainly didn't know the effect they had. You learn something every day. Thanks again.

To be fair mouse trails were useful on old laptops otherwise you could never find the damned thing! I 'think' they might still be in there as an option for visually impaired people.

Go to control panel - Mouse Properties and under the pointers options tick the "Show location of pointer when I press the control key"

:)
